The Missing Element, My Ah-ha Moment!
Dusting off the camera, and a few photography books, along with browsing photos on Flickr.com its time to get back into photography, and make some improvements. I have neglected my camera for too long.
I still have a lot to learn, I have seen photographs by kids that is so far more professional looking then I have taken it can get really embarrassing. For a long time I have been annoyed about my photos lacking in interest, I have seen some of the most lousy photographs of the most boring subjects, but they have this WOW factor, and I could not figure out what it was what was I doing wrong, what is the difference between mine and theirs, what was the missing element?
After putting down the camera reading and comparing my photographs to others on the web, I found that the main problem was a lousy composition, mainly the missing foreground, they had no depth, nothing to pull your eye in, So “I found it!! My missing element!!!” looking at images more in depth (picking it apart) I see what images I like, and why I like them.

A big thanks to photographers on Flickr, it is a great way to learn, and get ideas.
Something to keep in mind when viewing any photograph is to ask, what “Elements” of this photograph makes it good, (or why I like this image) My new challenge will be to look more deeply into every image and find out why I like it, so I can try it in my photographs.
Remembering a foreground, I think my photographs will have a big improvement.
More images with improvements to come…..
